Watch: Another Appetizer for Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

Another teaser for Lars von Trier’s upcoming Nymphomaniac has premiered today on the official website of the film. The clip features Charlotte Gainsbourg walking towards what seems to be a hospital. Stellan Skarsgård narrates the scene with his warm, raucous voice. The clip is shot in crispy clean black & white and looks gorgeous. It doesn’t really say or show much about the movie, so don’t worry about spoilers.

The description on the website reads: “Chapter 4 – Delirium. Delirium: Confusion. Delusion. Hallucination. The nymphomaniac’s father dies”. That would be Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg)’s father. The film is set to be released on Christmas Day in Denmark and in January 2014 worldwide. Looking good?

Big News for Lars von Trier’s ‘Nymphomaniac’

After releasing three teasers and clips from Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, more exciting news is on its way! It looks like the Danish director shot over 100 hours of footage and now plans to release an 8-episode TV show along with the two films or rather volumes, which are 2 h 30 min each. Sounds like this is going to be quite the erotic epic, although depending on which channel will air the TV show a lot of the explicit sex scenes might get trimmed.

Right now the film is still in post-production, which means they’re editing it. If a TV show is released and how long the two films will be is still open at this point. It’s now clearer why von Trier didn’t make it to Cannes this year. Of course I just hope Lars doesn’t have to cut anything out of the movie because it’s “too long” or for censorship issues. At this point it sounds like the film would get an NC-17 rating in the US.

Each chapter of the film is shot and composed in a different and unique stylistic way. Nymphomaniac stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, Stellan Skarsgård, Jamie Bell, Stacy Martin, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier and Jean-Marc Barr. Spectacular Teaser for Ben Stiller’s ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’

Directed, produced and starring Ben Stiller, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is the story of “A timid magazine photo manager who lives life vicariously through daydreams embarks on a true-life adventure when a negative goes missing” (IMDb plot summary). This looks like a whimsical comedy/drama with adventure and fantasy elements. The tone of this teaser reminds me of the films of Michel Gondry (The Science of Sleep, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) or even something like Stranger Than Fiction.

With a screenplay by Steve Conrad and co-starring Sean Penn this could even be an Oscar contender. Also in this: Kristen Wiig, Patton Oswalt and Adam Scott. Good for Ben Stiller trying to do something smarter than most of his buddies: I’m looking at you Adam Sandler! The film comes out in theaters Christmas Day 2013.
