Let’s Take a Break and Talk About Pharrell Williams’ Giant Hat for a Moment
I know this sounds like old news, because I’m sure you’ve all heard and seen famous rapper Pharrell Williams wearing this ridiculously big hat at the Grammys this year. However recently he became a “repeat offender” and wore a grey version of his ranger hat to the 86th Academy Awards Nominees Class Photo (during the 86th Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon). Seeing that he obviously loves this type of hat and that people making fun of it didn’t stop him from wearing it a second time, I thought I’d dig a little deeper to see if there was more to the story.
Searching the web a little bit I discovered some more interesting stuff. Apparently Williams was named Hat Person of the Year 2014 by the Headwear Association. I didn’t even know that was a thing, but apparently there’s an award for everything. In all seriousness this looks like a cool association, that also provides hats for homeless people. It’s a relatively new award, but its previous winners are all well known: Kate Moss (2013), Kate Middleton (2012), Johnny Depp (2011) and Brad Pitt (2010). So Williams is in good company, but beyond that I always liked the man’s fashion sense and the hat is no exception.
Below you can find some of my favorite pictures of Pharrell wearing the hat.

I also looked for some funny social media reactions and was not disappointed.
There’s even a Pharrell’s Hat Twitter account.
And a Facebook page, which of course I had to like and I’m surprised not more people are fans of.
And to go out with a bang: Here are some funny parodies.

Reblogged this on Brittius.com and commented:
Fantastic hat! Needs a 8×54 Hand-Made cigar to go with it. Go with a four-point campaign crease with upturned brim front and rear.
Who is Pharrell Williams and should i care?
Haha! Oh, you’re awesome Annie. Don’t ever change 🙂
I secretly kind of like it. It’s 80s Vivienne Westwood!
Well, you’re a connoisseur. I’m impressed! 🙂
Just a bit of a Vivienne Westwood fan! 🙂
haha ohhh this post made me laugh. I don’t think Pharrell takes himself too seriously. I think it’s funny that the fedora used to be a gangster symbol, but now I associate them with metrosexual guys. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedora)
😀 and atheism for whatever reason, I still don’t get that.. Also I just think of the Billy Wilder film whenever I hear the word fedora..
