First Shoegaze Teaser Trailer for Gregg Araki’s White Bird in a Blizzard (2014)

Looks like Gregg Araki‘s French produced Thriller White Bird in a Blizzard, starring Shailene Woodley and Eva Green, is being pushed back for a 2014 release and a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2014. Based on the French novel Un Oiseau blanc dans le blizzard (literal translation: “A White Bird in the Blizzard”) the film just got a first exciting trailer. After Gregg Araki’s crazy 2010 film Kaboom it looks like he’s back to some more “normal” material, whatever that means for him. The film is about a 17-year-old girl (Shailene Woodley) whose mom (Eva Green) disappears (or runs away on her?).

From this trailer it looks like the story will be about Woodley’s character’s journey to find her mother. I love how they cut this teaser together, it starts out with what seems to be an unedited scene of the movie and then goes on to a montage that showing off the film’s fabulous cast. Co-starring with the two lovely leading ladies are: Christopher MeloniShiloh FernandezAngela Bassett and Academy Award Nominee Gabourey Sidibe (among others). I love Gregg Araki’s use of shoegaze (the song in this trailer is Sea, Swallow Me by Cocteau Twins & Harold Budd) and I can’t help but think of Michelangelo Antonioni’s Identification of a Woman with the last shot of this trailer. Very excited for this film, how about you guys?
